Mom's Musical Review

We encourage you to wear your favorite costume to this special production presented by four talented storytellers who can't wait to tantalize and terrorize (maybe a little) for Halloween. Appropriate for ages 10 and up.

Cherie Trebon of Port Angeles is the former president of Seattle Storyteller’s Guild, previous director of the Forest Storytelling Festival in Port Angeles, and head of the storytelling events at Seattle’s Folklife Festival. She is a familiar face all around the state. She has received an ORACLE award for exemplary Service and Leadership in the Pacific Region from the National Storytelling Network. She is making her second appearance on our stage, where she will be telling a spine-tingling tale. Cherie’s quiet style enhances the suspense of this ghostly story. You won’t want to miss a single word.

John Clauson is coming back for his fourth appearance on our stage. He calls himself "the guy who resides in Belfair, the hamlet by the sea," but he is much more than that. John has traveled across the globe to tell his stories since the early 1970s. He has appeared all around the state, as well as into the Yukon and out to Tanzania. He is set to send chills down our spines and to have us holding our breath as he weaves Tales to Make You Shiver.

Al Gunby, Poulsbo’s own poet-laureate, is bringing his mellow voice into the storytelling arena. He has appeared on the Jewel Box stage as well as in many area productions, and is a major voice for the Kitsap Chordsman. He sings in the quartet, Agate Passage, and has received several awards for his music AND his poetry. He has published one book of poems about our own Hood Canal. He is performing an original (and guaranteed "true") variation of a favorite urban legend.

Kathy Currie is a regular on and behind the JBT stage. She has told stories on four continents and believes every word she says. Her animated style will have you on the edge of your seat. As the producer of the Jewel Box Theatre's Second Stage events, she hopes you have a “prickles on the back of your neck” time.

Tickets are $10 at the door. This presentation is appropriate for ages 10 and up and audience members are encouraged to come in costume.
